Installation of Jacket Proved Operations Were Complex and Sensitive
Upon successful operations of loading and floating of the first Jacket of Phase 11 of South Pars Gas Field, the Managing Director of Petropars Group commented, “The operations related to the loading and floating of the first Jacket of Phase 11 are extremely complex and sensitive which require high precision and tight coordination to be exerted by all persons who are in charge of these operations.”
According to a report by the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, Engineer Masoudi, the Managing Director of Petropars Group, was present at 11B location to supervise the process of the operations related to loading and floating of the Jacket. On the process of loading and floating of the super-structure, he said, “When loading, the Jacket is transferred on rails on to the carrying vessel and then it should be harnessed and controlled. When the time comes to float the Jacket, the Jacket is transferred to its center of gravity using the same rails and when it passes its center of gravity, it floats in water.”
“The Jacket floats in water with the assistance of air tanks which are connected to the Jacket. Subsequently, the Jacket is towed to be transferred to 11B location where it will be installed. At 11B location, a 3,000-ton crane will carry out the complex operations of lifting of the Jacket in order to place the 4 piers at the bed of the sea at the location specified to this end.”
