Organizational Wisdom is the Most Significant Outcome of Petropars Internal Oil Symposium

  2023 March 18
The CEO of Petropars Group, at the opening ceremony of the first internal Oil Symposium, considered the most significant outcome of this scientific event to be the enhancement of knowledge and its transformation into organizational wisdom.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of Petropars Group, Dr. Alikhani highlighted the mega-projects implemented by Petropars Group in the South Pars Gas Field and the ongoing massive projects that have yielded valuable experiences. He emphasized the importance of knowing what valuable knowledge has been gathered and produced from these experiences and what knowledge can be applied for future endeavors, as well as creating opportunities to benefit from this vast reservoir of knowledge.

The CEO of Petropars Group stressed the importance of a strategic outlook in the activities of leading organizations and the necessity of creating value for them. He classified the organization’s work into four categories: current activities, projects, crisis management, and strategic work. He stated, “Experience shows a direct correlation between strategic and project work and crisis management, such that more investment in strategic work deepens technical work and reduces the scope of crisis work.”

Dr. Alikhani considered the first Petropars Oil Symposium a strategic endeavor, stating, “If Petropars Group, despite having knowledgeable individuals, cannot convert their knowledge into organizational wisdom, it can be argued that no value creation has occurred. Therefore, I urge all colleagues to use the outcomes of this symposium to build organizationalwisdom.

The CEO of Petropars Group added, "Based on scientific and managerial definitions, anything that creates value for an organization is considered its asset. Therefore, even information and processes are counted as assets of an organization. Consequently, the information and processes derived from executing mega-projects must be transformed into organizational wisdom and, ultimately, valuable organizational assets."

Dr. Alikhani, referring to the simultaneous holding of this first Petropars Oil Symposium with Arbor Day and the launch of a project to plant over 3,500 tree species across 15 hectares in the Kongan Forest Park by Petropars Group as part of its social responsibility efforts, likened this scientific event to a sapling that will grow into a strong tree in the future.

It is noteworthy that in the first internal Oil Symposium of Petropars Group, which aimed to share technical and engineering knowledge in the oil industry among group colleagues, discover existing scientific capabilities, and document lessons learned from projects, 12 out of 37 submitted articles to the symposium's secretariat were selected for presentation, with three top articles receiving awards.

Based on the decision of the five-member judging panel of the symposium, Afshin Ghiasvand's article "Examination and Simulation of the Mechanism of Engineered Water Injection in Reservoirs with the Approach of Oil-Rock Interactions," Mostafa Saboohi's article "Geological Conceptual Model: A Powerful Tool for Petroleum Geological Studies, with an Example from the Reconstruction of Carbonate and Clastic Reservoirs in Shared Fields," and Sheida Alivand's article "Application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Data in Determining the Reservoir Properties of Heterogeneous Carbonate Rocks" were awarded first, second, and third place, respectively.
