Dr. Saqafi, CEO of Petropars Group
Addressing the Country’s Gas Imbalance is Petropars’ Top Priority
The managing director of Petropars Group called helping to solve the gas imbalance in the winter of 2025 as one of the most important approaches of this group.
According to the report of Public Relations and International Affairs of Petropars Group, following his visit to Petropars’ onshore projects, including the Central Treatment Export Plant (CTEP) and Phase 1 of the South Azadegan Oil Field Development (GC), Dr. Hamidreza Saqafi, along with Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), visited the South Pars Phase 1 platform (SDP1) to evaluate Petropars’ offshore projects and assess their role in resolving the country’s gas imbalance.
During this visit, Hojjatoleslam Mousa Ahmadi, Chairman of the Parliament’s Energy Committee, and members of the NIOC Board of Directors were also present. On the Well Target 1 platform, Dr. Saqafi provided a report on the actions taken by Petropars in drilling infill wells in the region. He announced that Petropars had adopted a new technical approach to well drilling, aiming to accelerate the completion of its ongoing commitments.
Dr. Saqafi highlighted that given the current gas imbalance in the country, especially during the winter months, the decision was made to shift away from batch drilling on the SPD1 platform. Instead, one well will be fully drilled to the reservoir and brought into production by December 2024. Special arrangements have been made in the drilling and production planning to expedite the completion of this well.
It is noteworthy that with the execution of the project to drill eight infill wells under Petropars’ contract, more than 15 million cubic meters of gas will be added to the country’s daily production capacity, significantly contributing to the resolution of the national gas imbalance.
